Advertising is one of the best ways that magazines can make money as companies who want advertising will pay a lot for advertising space in a big magazine that a lot of people read.

If a big brand has a lot of other sub brands they can advertise there other brands for free because they can advertise them in there other brands.

ownership
The majority of magazines are published by nine companies but there titles make up nearly 75% of the market. This means they have a massive influence over there audiences and there companies will only grow bigger as they control most of the market.

Media Regulation and law
The IPSO (independent press standards organisation) make sure that magazines and newspapers stick to the rules and regulations and investigate complaints and breaches of nine newspapers. They also provide helplines for reporters who feel pressured to breach any of the rules and/or regulations.

Future of magazines
The biggest change to magazines in the past 20 years is digitalisation what means that the magazines are going online because its cheaper, faster and easier compared to printing and with this world turning towards everyone going to technology so less and less people will by the physical magazine so then al magazines will be digital and small independent companies will start to form as its easy to set up an online magazine.

Mise-On-Scene

L/O:To explore the term 'Mise-On-scene'        4th may 2017
(may the 4th be with you)

Mise-on-scene: A French term meaning what is put into a scene or frame.

5 Elements of Mise-On-scene:

  • Setting and props
  • costume, hair and makeup
  • facial expressions and body language
  • lighting and colour
  • positioning of characters/Objects within frame

setting and props

  1. science fiction : set in space : spaceships, lazars, planets
  2. Romantic comedy : set in a city : table, flowers, bed
  3. Horror : set in a haunted house: weapons, dolls, chains

Costume, Hair and Makeup

  1. Posh
  2. Formal
  3. Wealthy
  4. Organised

Expressions and Body Language

  1. Strong
  2. Leader
  3. Angry
  4. Ready for anything
  5. In charge
  6. Main character

Positioning of characters and objects within a frame

Lighting and colour

  • Low key lighting (dark lighting what creates shadows)
  • high key lighting (bright and natural and a lot in rom com)

In this screenshot, Captain Jack Sparrow is running from a tribe of cannibals that are trying to eat him. His facial expression shows he is scared for his life. The picture shows the fear the Cannibal tribe puts into people. The cloths he is wearing is trying to suggest its from the 1700s to 1800s. The way Captain Jack Sparrow is looking and what he is doing shows he doesn't want to be around the cannibals. The setting is a beach in a pacific island that is inhabited by a indigenous tribe of Cannibals.

This is an action scene because Captain Jack Sparrow is standing on two carriages that are moving at high speeds. What he is doing might suggest he is trying to get away from someone or something that is trying to catch him or maybe he is trying to catch someone or something that has something expensive that he needs or wants. the setting is an old town or city in England or some other European country.

Editing

L/O: Understand how the editing of different shots can create and change the meaning of a scene and a film

Editing is selecting, combining and ordering shots to add meaning and continuity

Elements of Editing

  • Cutting
  • Transition
  • Pace and length of shot
  • Rhythm
  • CGI and Animation

Cutting

  • cutting on action (match on action)
  • Match on action: is where the editors cut the film when an actor turns around, in fight scenes, opening doors etc
  • cutaway: where it shows an insert shot then goes back to the main scene
  • Crosscutting: where it intercuts between two different scenes that are related and goes back and forth
  • straight cut: a cut from one scene to another, no transitions just a basic cut
  • jump cut: where the camera can show time passing in the same scene, where something in the scene has changed but the camera hasn't moved
  • match cut (graphic match): it cuts from one scene to another scene with the similar action or composition
  • Fade in/Fade out: is were they fade in or out of black or white to show time has passed
  • Eye line matches: is where it cuts from something/someone looking at, then cutting to what they are looking at
  • Wipe: when it wipes from one scene to another with a definite change of scene
  • shot reverse shot: this is normally used to show conversation between two or more people

In the beginning there was a montage of the guy getting ready for the shootout with the old people, then when he left the police station it was set out like a western movie, with the main character riding a horse an getting watched by the locals, then there were loads of jump scenes of the shootout.

music video script

Eminem:MOSH  all rights reserved to eminem and shady records

24th february 2017

I scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel, re-energize and rewind
I give sight to the blind, my insight through the mind
I exercise my right to express when I feel it's time
It's just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight, you take it as I'mma whip someone's ass
If you don't understand, don't even bother to ask
A father who has grown up with a fatherless past
Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has
Or at least shows no difficulty multi-task
And in juggling both perhaps mastered his craft
Slash entrepreneur who has helped launch a few more rap acts
Who's had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
Of his career typical manure moving past that
Mr. kisses ass crack, he's a class act
Rubber band man, yea he just snaps back
Come along follow me as I           lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me and I won't steer you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel
We gonna fight, we gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march
Through the swamp, we gonna mosh through the marsh
Take us right through the doors (c'mon)
All the people up top on the side and the middle
Come together lets all bomb and swamp just a little
Just let it gradually build from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people some white and some black
Don't matter what color, all that matters we gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause don't matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better
They ain't gonna stop us they can't, we stronger now more than ever
They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push, shove, mush, Fuck Bush, until they bring our troops home (c'mon)
Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone's tryina tell us something,
Maybe this is God just sayin' we're responsible
For this monster, this coward,
That we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head noddin'
How could we allow something like this without pumping our fists
Now this is our final hour
Let me be the voice in your strength and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify the times it, and multiply by six...
Ten million people, Are equal at this high pitch
Maybe we can reach alqueda through my speech
Let the president answer a higher anarchy
Strap him with an Ak-47, let him go, fight his own war
Let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil
No more psychological warfare, to trick us to thinking that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country, we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes its all lies
The stars and stripes, they've been swiped, washed out and wiped
And replaced with his own face, Mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight you know why,
Cause I told you to fight.
And as we proceed,
To Mosh through this desert storm,
In these closing statements, if they should argue
Let us beg to differ
As we set aside our differences
And assemble our own army
To disarm this Weapon of Mass Destruction
That we call our President, for the present
And Mosh for the future of our next generation
To speak and be heard
Mr. President, Mr. Senator
Do you guy's hear us...hear us...[laughing] (Hailie)
